Four Monarch Grapplers Place at Coppin State Open

BALTIMORE, MD -- Senior Chris Harrington (North Ft. Myers, FL) won by default over teammate Brad Krepps (Dauberville, PA) in the 197-pound division to pace the Old Dominion Monarchs wrestling squad in its first meet of the 1999-2000 season. Sophomore Jeff Rusak (Reading, PA), the 1998 CAA Rookie of the Year, finished in second-place in the 174 pound division.

Harrington and Krepps both knocked off three competitors and both earned a pin on the way to the championship of the 197 pound division. Meanwhile, Rusak posted two pins and a major decision before forfeiting the championship of the 174 pound class.

Freshman Jake Cairns (Brick, NJ) finished in fourth place in the 165 pound division in his first appearance for the Monarchs. George Sable (Middle Island, NY) finished with a 2-2 record at 184, while senior Joel Jiminez (Norfolk, VA) finished at 2-1 at 141.

The Monarchs return to action on Saturday as they travel to Lexington, VA, to participate in the VMI Tournament at 10 am.
