Two Monarch Wrestlers Qualify for the FILA Junior World Team Trials

NORFOLK, VA -- Two Monarch grapplers, James Nicholson (Des Moines, Iowa) and Jesse Strawn (Holton, Kansas), qualified for the FILA Junior World Team Trials in Colorado Springs May 20-26. The two will wrestle for a chance to represent the United States at the FILA Junior World Championships this summer. Nicholson qualified by taking third place over Delaware's Ian Moser and Strawn enters the trial with a fourth place effort at the Las Vegas/ASICS U.S. National Championships.
Nicholson qualified by taking third place in his weight class. Wrestling in the 55 kg/121.25 lb weight class, the Monarch wrestled his way to third place behind Tyler Graff (Colorado) and Ben Ashmore (Oklahoma State).
Strawn qualified despite falling in the third place matchup to Andy O'Loughlin (Northern Iowa) in the 85 kg/185 lb weight class. Strawn finished behind Brent Chriswell (Purdue) and David Craig (Lehigh) as well.
The two freshmen will represent King of the Jungle at the FILA Junior World Team Trials in Colorado starting May 20.
