Monarch Wrestling Dominates James Madison, Winning 42-3

HARRISONBURG, VA - Old Dominion won the first nine bouts en route to a 42-3 victory against host James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association wrestling Thursday night at JMU's Sinclair Gym in Godwin Hall.
The Monarchs improved to 5-12 overall and to 4-3 in the CAA. The Dukes fell to 2-16 overall, 1-9 in the CAA.
The Monarchs took control early, gaining six points with a forfeit at 125 pounds and then getting back-to-back falls from sophomore Chris Buckner (Chesapeake, Va./Deep Creek) and freshman Mike Davis (Herndon, VA).
Sophomore Adam Wright (Dayton, VA) returned to his Valley home to registered a five-point technical fall for the Monarchs in the 184-pound bout. Wright raised his record to 25-8 overall. Senior heavyweight Derrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE) improved his record to a team-best 31-8 with an 8-5 decision.
JMU's lone victory was by senior Justin Gronlie. Making his final home appearance, Gronlie posted a 7-4 decision at 197 pounds. The win upped his season's record to 10-13.
