Wrestling Returns to Action at American on Sunday

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Old Dominion University wrestling will be back in action on Sunday at American University to take on the No. 10 Eagles at 1 p.m.

It will be Old Dominion's first match in 22 days and American's first match in two weeks.

The Monarchs are 1-4 on the year while American is off to a 5-1 start.

ODU is led by its senior tandem of James Nicholson and Kyle Hutter. Nicholson, 9-0 on the year, is ranked No. 4 in the country at 125 while Hutter, who comes into the match with a 12-2 record, is No. 10 at 133.

Sophomore Brennan Brumley has won three in a row and is 10-5 on the year.

True freshman Tristan Warner is tied with Brumley for second on the team with 10 wins.

The Eagles are led by 157-pounder Steve Fittery, who is ranked first in the weight class. Heavyweight Ryan Flores is ranked fourth while Ganbayar Sanjaa is No. 7 at 149. Matt Mariacher (141) and Daniel Mitchell (197) are ranked No. 16 at their respective weight classes.

Fans who can't make it to Bender Arena in person on Sunday can catch all of the action live on via a subscription to Eagles Vision TV. Play-by-play man Allen Brown will call the action with color commentator from Jimmy Johnson. Sunday's broadcast will also feature a guest appearance by Earl Smith, owner of

Old Dominion will compete in the Southern Scuffle and Midlands over Christmas break on Dec. 29-30.
