ODU Sailing Places Ninth at Charleston Spring Intersectional

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Old Dominion sailing team kicked off its 2011 spring campaign this past weekend, finishing ninth at the Charleston Spring Intersectional.

Senior Stephanie Roble skippered the Monarchs to a sixth-place result in the A-Division along with crew Emily Reich and Arianna Baker. ODU posted four top-five finishes in 11 races, including a win in the sixth race.

Junior skipper Miles Martschink and freshman crew Julia Wiesner garnered a 10-place result in the B-Division with three top-five finishes. The duo ended the regatta strong, claiming fourth and second in the final two races.

The College of Charleston bested the 14-school field, ending the regatta with 86 points. The University of Florida finished second and Coast Guard claimed third.
