ODU Sailors Claim Second At Shortened Tom Noble Team Race
March 1, 2011
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Old Dominion University sailing posted a 5-2 record to claim second at the Tom Noble Team Race. The Monarchs trailed only Boston University in the eight-team field.
On Saturday, eight races were completed in a strong flood tide and light and shifty northwesterly breeze that died at 11:30 causing races to be postponed for an hour. After the short wait for the wind to fill, the first round robin and 4 races of the second round robin were completed in a 5-10 mph southwesterly winds.
Unfortunately, Sunday racing was postponed until noon, then abandoned for the day due to lack of wind.
Boston University also went 5-2, but a head-to-head win over ODU gave them first-place.
