Monarch Sailors Third After Day One Of America Trophy

NORFOLK, VA (April 29) - Old Dominion's tenth-ranked co-ed dinghy sailing team is currently in third-place after day one of the America Trophy at the Old Dominion Sailing Center. Fifth-ranked Hobart William Smith leads the hotly contested event with 46 points, followed by No.1 St. Mary's with 47, No. 10 Old Dominion with 50, No. 7 Navy with 57 and No. 14 Kings Point with 74.

Junior skipper Adam Burns (Youngstown, NY) along with senior crew Heather Pescatello (Westerly, RI) are in third-place in A Division for the Monarchs with 27 points. Also in third-place are skipper's Justin Castagne (Maraval, Trinidad) and Brad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, FL) along with crew Christine Thomas (Norfolk, VA) and Elisabeth Biondi (Norwalk, CT), as all competed in B Division for the Monarchs today.

The America Trophy is the MAISA (Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association) Dinghy Championships. The top-four finishers of the event will advance to the American Dinghy Championships in Kings Point, NY, June 5-7.
