ROANOKE, Va. – Old Dominion University quarterback Taylor Heinicke was named the Roanoke Times Offensive Player of the Year while Larry Pinkard, Antonio Vaughan, D.J. Morrell, Jarod Brown and Aaron Evans received All-State honors.

Heinicke was named Player of the Year and first-team All-State for the second-consecutive season after completing 340-of-486 passes for 4,022 yards and 33 touchdown passes.  He also rushed for 348 yards and five touchdowns. He was also named first-team All-State quarterback.

The Atlanta, Ga. native passed for 300 or more yards nine times this season including a season-high 533 yards and four touchdown passes in ODU’s 59-38 victory over Idaho, the Monarchs’ first-ever win over an FBS program.

Pinkard led ODU with 68 receptions for 1,020 yards, setting career-highs in both categories while tying his career-high with nine touchdown grabs.

The junior caught a career-best nine passes at Pittsburgh and set a career-best with 156 receiving yards in the victory over Campbell.

Vaughan finished second on the team with 60 receptions for 843 yards and a career-high nine touchdown passes to tie for the team lead with Pinkard.

He went over 100 yards receiving four times this season including a career-best 171-yards in the win over Campbell, the second most receiving yards in a single-game in school history.

Morrell started all 12 games for ODU this season, 10 at right tackle and two at right guard.  He finished his career starting all 25-career games that he played in.

Brown connected on 64-of-65 extra points and was 13-of-20 on field goal attempts.  He kicked a 52-yard field goal against The Citadel, a then school record before he broke the record with a 54-yard kick at Pittsburgh, which was the longest field goal by a collegiate or professional kicker in Heinz Field history.

He graduates as the school’s all-time leader in extra points made and attempted, field goals made and attempted and the longest field goal in school history.

Evans set a single-season school record with 33 kickoff returns for 802 yards.  He ranks second all-time in school history in both categories.

The Newport News native took over punt returning duties this season and set the stage for ODU’s 21-17 win over Liberty with a 64-yard punt return with less than five minutes remaining in the game.

The Monarchs finished 8-4 in 2013 and will begin the 2014 season at home on Aug. 30 against Hampton.
