MIAMI, Fla. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team lost to Florida International University 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. FIU snapped a four game skid and moves to 3-7-0 (1-1-0), while the Lady Monarchs fall to 0-8-1 (0-2-0).

The Panthers started the scoring off in the 21st minute when Ashleigh Shim got tangled up in ODU’s box, only to have senior Nicole Diperna convert on the penalty kick.

In the 32nd minute, Shim chipped a shot over ODU’s freshman keeper Meredith Lenox, to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Shim’s team best fourth score was assisted by DiPerna.

To begin the second half, Old Dominion started another freshman keeper Erin Kinz. In the 52nd minute, Medlen Weinhardt played a free kick into teammate Johanna Volz, who struck a header off the post and into the Lady Monarchs’ goal to put the Panthers in command, 3-0.

Florida International sealed the game in the 85th minute of play, when Kinz was able to get a hand on Morgan Morris’ shot, but the ball managed to squeak into ODU’s goal, lifting the Panthers past Old Dominion, 4-0.
