Pearson & Beeman Score Two Goals To Lead ODU To A 5-1 Win Over Wyoming

NORFOLK, VA - Janna Pearson (Haymarket, VA), and Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA) scored two goals a piece to help lift the Lady Monarchs over Wyoming 5-1. Shavon Knight (Waldorf, MD) also connected with a goal. ODU is now 7-1-0, their best start in school history, while Wyoming drops to 3-2-2.
Beeman's first goal came at 18:09 off a penalty kick after Pearson was fouled in the box by a Wyoming defender. Katie Watson (Woodbridge, VA) found Pearson with a punt from midfield for Pearson's first goal of the game. Next, Knight connected with a goal off a pass from Pearson at 28:57. At the half the score stood at 3-0 in favor of the Lady Monarchs.
A minute in to the second half, Wyoming came out and scored with an unassisted goal by Mercy Adetoye. That was followed by another Beeman goal off a penalty kick at 82:14, after she was tripped up by a defender 10 yards from the goal. Finally, in the 89th minute of play Pearson scored again off a pass from Watson, making her third goal of the season.
Laura Beeman, with 30 career goals, is just four goals away from second place in all-time career goals. She has now has 9 goals this season.
The Lady Monarchs are back in action September 30, as they host CAA foes UNC-Wilmington at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium at 7:00pm. Wyoming travels to Williamsburg Sunday as the take on William and Mary.
