ODU Women's Soccer Hosts Wyoming Friday Night at 7:00 P.M.

NORFOLK, VA - The Lady Monarch Soccer team looks to continue their winning streak tomorrow as they host Wyoming at 7:00pm at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium. Women's Soccer is off to their best start since 1998 with an overall record of 6-1-0, a no. 11 ranking in Soccer Buzz Magazine's Mid-Atlantic regional rankings, and a no. 10 ranking by the NSCAA/Adidas Mid-Atlantic rankings. They are on a three game home winning streak, and have had three straight shutout wins against their last three opponents- Liberty, CAA rival William and Mary, and Elon. Friday's game will be the last non-conference regular season match for Old Dominion. Wyoming is 3-1-2 overall coming off a win over Portland State 1-0. This is the first meeting between the Lady Monarchs and Wyoming.
The Cowgirls are currently in third place in the Mountain West Conference. Senior forward Mercy Adetoye is currently tied for the second most career goals in Wyoming history. Her 17 career goals are in a tie for second to Kelly McShane's 19. Adetoye is tied for the most career assists (8) and is also second in career shots (137), career points (42) and third in career game winning goals (4).
Old Dominion's senior forward Laura Beeman (Chalfont,Pa) made history in last Tuesday night's game against Elon, scoring both goals in the 2-0 shutout and moving up to third place for most career goals in ODU history with 28 goals. She now has 7 goals this season. Freshman goalkeeper Colby Owen (Virginia Beach , VA) recorded her third consecutive shutout against Elon and has compiled an impressive .082 goals against average for the year.
The Lady Monarchs return to action Friday September 30th for a CAA home match against visiting UNC-Wilmington. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
