Lady Monarchs Defeat Campbell, 3-1

BUIES CREEK, NC--Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA.), Katie Watson (Woodbridge, VA.), and Shavon Knight (Waldorf, MD.) each scored a goal to lead the Old Dominion University women's soccer team to a 3-1 non conference victory over Campbell Monday night. ODU is now 2-0 on the season.
Beaman put the Lady Monarchs on the board first on an assist from Elizabeth Brewster (Clifton, VA.) 12 minutes into the match. It is Beeman's third goal of the year. Campbell tied the match with 22 minutes left in the first half on an unassisted goal from Christina Candeloro.
In the second half with about 34 minutes left in the match sophomore Katie Watson scored on an assist from Melissa Futrell (Virginia Beach, VA). Freshman Shavon Knight finished the scoring with an unassisted goal with less than ten minutes remaining. ODU has scored six goals in their first two matches.
ODU outshot Campbell, 22-6 and freshman goalkeeper Colby Owen came up with three saves on the night. The Lady Monarchs hit the road again when they travel to UNC Greensboro's tournament, to play Richmond at 5 p.m. on Friday, and tournament host host UNCG on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
