Dec. 9, 2005
NORFOLK, VA - Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA) has been named to the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of America's All-Mid Atlantic second team. She is only the fifth player in the history of the program to receive the honor. As a senior forward on the Old Dominion women's soccer team Beeman compiled a team leading 16 goals, and 35 points. She recorded 3 assists on the season, had 78 shots, 52 shots on goal, and carried a .667 shot on goal percentage.
Beeman, the 2005 CAA Player of the Year, was also the top offensive player in the conference this season, leading the league in goals (16), points (35) and shots (78). She scored at least one goal in 10 of ODU's 19 contests and recorded five multi-goal performances, including a hat trick in the Lady Monarchs' regular-season finale against Towson. A three-time All-CAA selection, Beeman concluded her ODU career ranked second on the school's career goals (37) and points (86) list.
Beeman's contribution to the Lady Monarch's allowed the team to finish with a 12-7-0 overall record, their best record since the 2000 season. They also qualified for the six-team CAA women's soccer tournament.
