Lady Monarchs Fall to Pitt, 3-0

PITTSBURGH, PA (October 17)-- Old Dominion's women's soccer team was shutout by the University of Pittsburgh, 0-3. The Lady Monarchs drop to 7-7-0 on the season, while Pitt improves to 5-9-1.

Pitt was on the board at the 32:00 mark when Kirstin Gellatly scored off a Cande Ruiz assist. The goal took Pitt into the half with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Old Dominion fired off 14 shots but was unable to connect, while Pitt struck on two of their seven. At 76:00, Megan Beasley made it 2-0 Pitt on a seven yard blast from the left side.

Gellatly scored her second goal of the game with just two minutes remaining as she lobbed the ball just over Lady Monarch goalkeeper Alison Kinsler?s head to make it 3-0 Pitt. For the game, Old Dominion out-shot Pitt, 23-12 and out-cornered them, 6-4. Pitt keeper Nicole Bashor made 13 saves in posting the shutout.

The Lady Monarchs return to action on Friday, October 22, as they travel to Fairfax, VA, to take on CAA-rival George Mason at 3:00 pm.
