Monmouth Upends Lady Monarchs in OT

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ (Sept. 6) - Old Dominion's Lady Monarch soccer squad was upended by Monmouth University, 1-0, tonight on a goal in the 100th minute by the Hawks Christina Sellitto. Old Dominion led in the shots on goal category, 17-12, but was unable to find the net.

The two teams played scoreless soccer the first 100 minutes of play before Sellitto found the right side of the net at 100:19 to seal the game for the Hawks. Old Dominion's Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD) made three saves in goal for the Lady Monarchs, while Monmouth's Kristin Spohn had six for the Hawks.

Old Dominion drops to 2-2 on the season, while Monmouth improves to 2-0. The Lady Monarchs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 as they host in-state rival Virginia Tech at 7:30 pm at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium.
