The Pitt Panthers enter Sunday’s contest at 5-4 after defeating Wagner 69-55 on Saturday, Dec. 7. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Panthers, who had suffered back-to-back home losses to James Madison (71-61) and Buffalo (66-62).

Thus far, the Panthers are led by junior guard Brianna Kiesel, who has racked up a team-high 139 points and is averaging 15.4 per game. Kiesel also averages an impressive 4.4 assists per game and has accumulated 14 steals while shooting .756 from the free throw line. Senior forward Asia Logan enters Sunday’s matchup with 103 points on the season and leads the squad with 7.4 rebounds.

Last time out, Pitt defeated Wagner 69-55 as Brianna Kiesel led the Panthers in scoring for the seventh time in nine games this season. Additionally, 6’11 freshman Marvadene ‘Bubbles’ Anderson turned in a career-high 18-point performance while adding six rebounds and four blocks. On the season, Anderson now leads the Panthers with 20 total blocks and also currently holds an impressive .509 field goal shooting percentage.

The Panthers are coached by Suzie McConnell-Serio in her first season. The former Olympian and Hall of Fame member took the reigns last spring after serving as the head coach for the Duquesne women’s basketball program for six seasons. As a Duke, she led five teams to 20-win seasons and never turned in a losing-season.

Adding to the momentum, junior forward Shae Kelley was tabbed C-USA Player of the Week after recording four consecutive double-doubles. Kelley’s accomplishment marks the first time in history that an ODU player has received the honor.
