RICHMOND, Va. - (Oct. 16) Richmond midfielder Cam Letke scored in the 33rd minute to lift Richmond to a 1-0 victory over the visiting Monarchs Tuesday in men's CAA soccer action. No. 16 Old Dominion (11-3-0, 6-1-0), drops its first CAA game of the season, but remains in first place, while Richmond (9-5-1, 5-2-0) moves into sole possession of second place.

Letke's goal was launched past a charging Chuck Connelly (Rockville, MD), the Monarch goalkeeper, at the 32:14 mark. The Monarchs were unable to answer in the first half and went into halftime trailing, 0-1.

In the second half, it was much of the same as Old Dominion mustered seven shots but was unable to connect. Richmond, on the other hand, continued to bombard Old Dominion, firing 12 shots in the first half and another 10 in the second half.

Connelly made seven saves in goal for ODU, which drops its first game since a 0-1 loss to Loyola (MD) on September 18. The Monarchs have one CAA game remaining, with UNC Wilmington on November 7, and can still clinch their first-ever CAA title with a win.

Old Dominion will return to action this weekend, as the team travels to Charleston, S.C., to participate in the College of Charleston tournament. The Monarchs play Charleston on Saturday at 5:00 pm and then face South Carolina on Sunday at 12 noon.
