Monarchs Play At Virginia Tech In Final Exhibition Match

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Soccer Monarchs travel to Blacksburg, VA., for an exhibition match with the Hokies of Virginia Tech Saturday night at 7 p.m.
The Monarchs are pre-season ranked 20th by College Soccer News and 23rd in the coaches NSCAA/Adidas poll. The Monarchs are also the favorites for the CAA crown.
The Hokies were 10-5-5 last year, finishing fourth in the ACC and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Sophomore Patrick Nyarko led the Hokies in scoring with eight goals and six assists last year. The Monarchs lost their exhibition opener to American last weekend.
ODU opens the regular season, Aug. 25th at home (6:30 p.m.) against top ranked and defending National Maryland which will be a doubleheader with the Lady Monarchs and East Carolina playing at 8:30.
Besides Maryland, UNC Greensboro is another ODU opponent in the to 25 at number 21. The Spartans compete in the ODU Stihl Soccer Classic, Sept. 15 and 17.
