#3 Men's Soccer Earns Another Shutout, Defeats Hofstra 1-0
Oct. 16, 2005
NORFOLK, VA--. Senior forward Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) scored his tenth goal of the season, and the 3rd-ranked Old Dominion University Soccer Monarchs garnered another shutout victory, blanking Hofstra 1-0. The shutout was ODU's seventh in their past eight matches, and have only given up one goal in that span. Senior goalie John Connelly (Rockville, MD) stopped four shots and picked up his CAA-leading ninth shutout of the year.
Old Dominion's offense struck early in the 4th minute of action as Junior midfielder Jared Kent (Marietta, GA) fed a high service into the box to an open Cvilikas who flicked it into the right side of the goal. The Monarch defense turned back several Hofstra advances in the second half to preserve the win.
ODU outshot the Pride 23-11, and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Old Dominion extended their home regular season unbeaten streak to 31 matches with the victory.
The Monarchs return to action next Friday night as they host conference rival VCU in a CAA contest. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
