Monarchs are roaring in more than football this autumn

There's more than one highly anticipated game this week between Old Dominion and James Madison.

Though it can't expect to receive nearly as much attention as the nascent football rivalry between ODU and JMU that kicks off Saturday at Foreman Field, the Monarchs men's soccer team is in Harrisonburg tonight for a pivotal game.

Among other things, the result could determine who hosts the CAA tournament in a couple of weeks.

Getting the CAA playoff on ODU's pitch, coach Alan Dawson says, is "the short-term, immediate goal."

Long term, Dawson has grander ideas. Such as securing a high seed in the NCAA tournament, which rewards the best teams with home games.
