Overton Selected In the 15th Round By Miami

NORFOLK, VA—ODU righthander, and team earned run average leader Connor Overton (Mechanicsville, VA.) was selected in the 15th round (437 overall pick) of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Miami Marlins, joining senior lefthander Ryan Yarbrough who was selected yesterday in the fourth round as the Monarch draftees for this season.

The red-shirt sophomore compiled a 3-3 record and a 2.79 ERA. Overton was third on team in appearances with 30. He had four saves which included LA Tech, FIU (twice) and Charlotte. Overton fanned five batters in 2.2 innings against UAB, four in 2.0 innings against Liberty, LIU and St. John's. He struckout 43 batters in 42 innings of work.

 Conference USA had a total of 34 players selected in the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft, which concluded Saturday evening.
