UMBC Takes Two From ODU Swimming

Norfolk, VA-The University of Maryland-Baltimore County defeated the ODU men's and women's swimming and diving squads this afternoon. The UMBC men prevailed 178-114 while the women came back to win in their final event against the Lady Monarchs, 154-142.

Despite the loss, several Old Dominion swimmers turned in superb performances. Jamie D'Agostino (Ardsley, NY) won the 1000, 200 and 500 freestyle events while diver Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) swept both diving events. Senior Brianna Wolfe (Ballwin, MO) claimed victories in the 100 back and 50 free in her last home meet at Old Dominion.

The men's side was led by senior Joe Kieffer (Hamburg, NY) who finished with a win on the 3-meter diving board and a second-place finish in the 1-meter. Eric Mitchell (Armonk, NY) logged a victory in the 200 fly.

The Old Dominion men finish the season 5-6 while the women finish 4-7.

Both ODU swimming and diving teams will be off until February 20, when they take part in the CAA Championships in Fairfax, VA.
