Delaware Standout Eric Onesi Signs With ODU

NORFOLK, VA--Eric Onesi, the 2005 Delaware High School state runner-up, and two-time Delaware State Junior Champion from St. Mark's High School has signed a letter-of-intent with Old Dominion University announced head coach men's golf coach Murray Rudisill.

Onesi, a 6-1, 180-pounder was 10-1 in match play in 2005 for head coach John Fiorelli at St. Mark's High School in Bear, DE. He won the 2003 Delaware State Junior Championship event after shooting a 73 and 67. Then won the 2005 Junior championship after shooting 66 and 72.

In finishing second at the state championships, Onesi shot a 74 and 76. He also shot a 74-68-67 to win the AJFA Randall Parker Shootout last summer. He also placed 13th at the prestigious AJGA Mind Maters tournament in Pittsburgh, PA, shooting a 68-75-71. Onesi also qualified for the National Insurance Classic by shooting a 66.

"I chose Old Dominion because I was so impressed with the area, the university, the golf program, the facilities and in particular head coach Rudisill," said Onesi. " I wanted to get away from home, but not too far away."

The son of Sam and Catherine Onesi, Eric plans to major in either business administration or marketing.
