Harris Splits Matches For Team Great Britain-Ireland

COUNTY CLARE, IRELAND- Old Dominion University junior golfer Geoffrey Harris (Reading, England) halved his match with D.J. Trahan (Clemson), then lost two-up to John Klauk of the University of Texas in the final round of the sixth annual Palmer Cup at the Doonbeg Golf Club. The United States Collegians defeated the Collegians from Great Britain-Ireland, 15.5 to 8.5 for their second straight win and first Palmer Cup win away from the U.S. soil.

Harris, the CAA Player of the Year finished the event 1-2-1. Thursday he and Stuart Manley of the University of West Florida defeated John Klauk (University of Texas and Hunter Mahan of Oklahoma State 5 and four, then lost to them, 1-up.

During the regular college season, Harris had four seconds and a first which he lost on a sudden death playoff. He ranked in the top ten in the district and earned All-CAA and All-State honors. He was named ODU's team MVP for the second straight year.
