NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football completed their 14th day of practice Monday morning at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex Practice Field.
ODUSports.com is taking a closer look at this year’s team. Today we take a look at redshirt freshman wide receiver, Zach Pascal.
Why did you choose Old Dominion? I chose ODU for their education and because of their passing game on the field. Taylor Heinicke is one of the best passers in the game and as a wide receiver I want to be on the field with him.
When did you start playing football? I started playing football when I was in middle school. My father put me in a uniform because I was always the kid running around the house breaking things and getting into trouble.
Why did you change from No. 80 to No. 6? The coaches gave me No. 6. I believe I earned the new number after completing my first year and working hard to get a single digit number.
What did you learn as a redshirt freshman last year? I learned how fast this level of play is. As a receiver, I learned my job is to get open, catch the ball and block, which is a lot more than in high school where you just run around and catch the ball.
How is your second year of fall camp? It’s going really well and so much better than last year. I feel like I have learned a lot from Coach Burden and I have improve my skills.
What is your favorite thing about Hampton Roads? The beach and the whole area is very friendly.
What’s on your iPod? I listen to a lot of rap and go-go music.
Favorite Restaurant? Chipotle
Favorite Food? Chicken
What is something thing people don’t know about you? I am very goofy.
What is your favorite football memory? In high school, I scored the game-winning touchdown to get our team into the playoffs.
Who is your role model? My father is my biggest role model and I hope to be just like him someday.
