NORFOLK, Va. – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its 2014 Academic Honor Squads recently and the Old Dominion women’s lacrosse team was among the schools recognized.

"We are so proud of our team and what they accomplish on and off the field. Old Dominion goes above and beyond to give support to our student-athletes throughout the year. This recognition is a true testimony of all the hard work and importance our players, coaching staff, and advisors focus on our academics," said Head Coach Heather Holt.

ODU was one of 84 NCAA Division I programs to earn Academic Squad accolades. To qualify, teams must have achieved a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or above for the 2013-14 academic year. The honor marks the first time since 2010 that the Lady Monarchs lacrosse team has been honored for its academic achievements by the IWLCA.

Other Atlantic Sun teams to make the list include Elon, Jacksonville and Kennesaw State.
