Men's Tennis Defeats Delaware, 4-0, In CAA Quarterfinals

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team marched on to the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon by take a 4-0 victory in the tournament's quarterfinal round.

Old Dominion earned the doubles points and then went on to collect three straight wins in singles to advance.

The doubles point came with victories by the Monarchs No. 1 and No. 3 doubles squad. At No. 1 doubles, Henrique Cancado and Eidy Igarashi blanked Delaware's Jesse Carl and Nolan Greenburg. In the other doubles match, Matt Sands and Dominic Manilla teamed for an 8-4 win over the Fightin' Blue Hens' Jon Schwartz and Josh Levin.

In singles it was CAA Rookie and Co-Player of the Year, Harel Srugo along with Alex Seleznev and Nate Grover taking wins to see the Monarchs advance. Srugo took a 6-1, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over Delaware's Jesse Carl, while Seleznev posted a 6-0, 6-2, No. 2 singles victory and Grover played to a 6-2, 6-1 No. 6 singles win.

The Monarchs will take on third seeded William & Mary at 10 a.m. at Huntington Park in the semis. Old Dominion defeated the Tribe twice during the dual meet season - a 4-3 win back on February 12th and a 5-1 win on April 6th.
