Men's Tennis Remain At #66 In Latest ITA National Rankings

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team remains ranked at No. 66 in the latest ITA rankings released this week.
The Monarchs have opened the spring season with a 6-1 record with their lone loss coming at the hands of then eighth ranked Duke and the six victories coming without the opponent talling a single match point.
Remaing on the schedule are eight opponents ranked in the latest poll. Included are #7 Virginia, #13 Wake Forest, #32 Louisville, #34 Virginia Commonwealth, #44 Texas A&M Corpus Christi, #49 N.C. State, #53 Pennsylvania, and #65 William & Mary.
Up next on the Monarchs schedule is the Ivy League's Cornell. The Big Red lost to the Monarchs 3-2 the last time these two team played in 2002 at the VCU 4-1 team tournament. The match on Friday, February 3rd will be Cornell's first match of the spring. The Big Red have had dual match wins over Princeton and Manhattan in the fall and one loss to Brown in the ECAC team tournament.
The next team rankings will be released on February 7th after the Monarchs have challenged Cornerll and #13 Wake Forest.
The next individual rankings are due out February 22nd. Sophomore Eidy Igarashi (São José do Rio Preto, Brazil) is currently ranked No. 90 in singles and joins doubles partner junior Henrique Cancado (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) at No. 33 in doubles.
