The 64th Oyster Bowl returns to Old Dominion University's Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium on Saturday when the Monarchs take on the Albany Great Danes at  6 p.m.

Sponsored by the Chesapeake based Khedive Temple of Shriners International, the Oyster Bowl was played at ODU's stadium from 1946-1995.  An additional $1 has been added to the ticket cost of this game to support the Shriners' Hospitals for Children.

The first Oyster Bowl was played in 1946 between Granby High School (Norfolk) and Clifton High School (New Jersey). However, from 1948-1995, the game featured NCAA major college teams, featuring All Americans and future NFL players such as Ernie Davis of Syracuse, Don Meredith of SMU, Roger Staubach of Navy, Bruce Smith of Virginia Tech, Randy White of Maryland and 1960 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Bellino of Navy.

In 1999, the game was revived and relocated to the Joseph S. Darling Memorial Stadium in Hampton, Virginia and featured a match-up between Division III college teams before moving back to ODU and Foreman Field in 2010.

Fans can purchase oysters in and around the stadium on Saturday. The contest is sold out and designated as a "Blue Out" for fans.
