NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team fell to in-state rival Richmond on Saturday afternoon, 4-3, to drop to 10-12 on the season. The Spiders meanwhile upped their mark to 11-8.

Old Dominion garnered three singles victories in the loss. Fernanda Luiz (Nova Lima, Brazil ) topped Courtney Klein at No. 3 singles rallying after a first set loss. After the 6-7 first set loss, Luiz only allowed Klein one more game blanking her 6-0 in the second set and taking home the victory with a 6-1 third set. Sophomore Barbara Kerner (Herxheim, Germany) earned a straight set win over Jelena Zivanovic, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles, while Larissa Santos (Florianopolis, Brazil ) picked up a point for the Lady Monarchs as the Spiders defaulted at No. 6 singles.

The Lady Monarchs return to action on Wednesday in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action at #16 William & Mary.
