Lady Monarchs Beat Dukes 5-2

NORFOLK, Va.- The Lady Monarchs kept pace with the Monarch men and also triumphed over James Madison University 5-2 in their second Colonial Athletic Association match in as many days.

Diana Ivanova and Melissa Esnal Olguin won their doubles match over Michelle Nguyen and Taylor Pinchoff, 8-4. Juliana Pires and Aleksandra Mitrovska also won 8-4, but Nika Khmolovska and Faith Atiso dropped their match to Megan Douglass and Jacqueline Palmucci, 8-4.

Juliana Pires set the tempo in singles play winning in straight sets. Closely following Pires, Esnal Olguin and Mitrovska and Ivanova also won in straight sets to automatically give the Lady Monarchs the team victory.

Khmolovska did not finish her match due to illness and had to retire. Atiso lost in a single pro set 8-5 to Ruxandra Andriescu.

The Lady Monarchs are now 4-1 on the season and will play again on Saturday, February 18, against University of Maryland Baltimore County and Georgetown at the Folkes/Stevens Indoor Tennis Facility.
