Nataly Cahana Headlines Three Lady Monarchs on Silver Anniversary Squad

RICHMOND, Va. (December 10, 2009) -The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its women's tennis Silver Anniversary team, which includes 13 former CAA Players of the Year and 19 All-Americans.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The teams are selected by a panel of current and former coaches in the conference.

Members of the CAA Silver Anniversary team for women's tennis are:

Olga Borisova (VCU), Nataly Cahana (Old Dominion), Danielle Durak (William and Mary), Candice Fuchs (William and Mary), Chris Gillies (James Madison), Katrin Guenther (William and Mary), Julie Kaczmarek (William and Mary), Megan Moulton-Levy (William and Mary), Megan Muth (William and Mary), Martina Nedelkova (VCU), Lauren Nikolaus (William and Mary), Michelle O (William and Mary), Tzipi Obziler (Old Dominion), Andrea Ondrisova (VCU), Ana Radeljevic (Old Dominion), Julie Shiflet (William and Mary), Johanna Sones (William and Mary), Delphine Troch (William and Mary), Tari Ann Toro (William and Mary), Silvia Urickova (VCU), Tatsiana Uvarova (VCU), Karen van der Merwe (William and Mary), Marianna Yuferova (VCU), Barbora Zahnova (VCU) and Katarina Zoricic (William and Mary).

Women's tennis has been a championship sport in the CAA since the league's inception in 1985. William and Mary has captured 20 of the 24 CAA titles, including a streak of 15 straight from 1986-2000. VCU won CAA championships in 2003 and 2006 and has reached the finals for the past eight seasons. Old Dominion took home the 2001 CAA championship, ending the Tribe's 15-year title run. Georgia State claimed its first CAA title in 2009.

The conference has built an outstanding reputation nationally, with several teams and numerous individuals ranked among the best in Division I each year. William and Mary reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship in 1997 and 1998 and VCU advanced to the quarterfinals in 2002. The CAA has placed multiple teams in the NCAA Tournament field in 10 of the past 13 seasons.

CAA Women's Tennis 25th Anniversary Team

Olga Borisova - VCU - 2003-07 - Minsk, Belarus
• Competed in three NCAA Doubles Championships and reached the quarterfinals in 2005 to earn ITA All-America honors
• Earned 1st team All-CAA honors in singles and doubles during all four seasons
• Among VCU's all-time leaders in singles (86-21) and doubles (84-20) victories

Nataly Cahana - Old Dominion - 2000-04 - Qiriat Bialik, Israel
• Received CAA Player of the Year honors during all four seasons
• Four-time NCAA qualifier and two-time All-American who was the ITA East Region Senior Player of the Year in 2004
• Posted a career singles record of 139-26, including a 47-4 mark in 2000-01

Danielle Durak - William and Mary - 1986-90 - Sterling Heights, Mich.
• Honored as the CAA Player of the Year in 1990
• Competed in the NCAA Doubles Championship in 1988 and 1989 and the NCAA Singles Championship in 1990
• Won the #1 singles flight once and the #1 doubles flight twice at the CAA Championship

Candice Fuchs - William and Mary - 2001-05 - Sarasota, Fla.
• Earned All-America honors in 2005 after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship
• Three-time first-team All-CAA honoree in singles and doubles
• Qualified for three NCAA Doubles Championships and one NCAA Singles Championship

Chris Gillies - James Madison - 1985-88 - Mendham, N.J.
• Honored as the CAA Player of the Year in 1987 and 1988
• Two-time CAA champion at #1 doubles (1986, 1987) and #1 singles champion in 1988
• NCAA qualifier in doubles in 1985 and in singles in 1986

Katrin Guenther - William and Mary - 1991-95 - Leverkusen, Germany
• Two-time All-American who reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship in 1993 and 1995
• Selected as the CAA Player of the Year in 1995 v• Competed in three NCAA Doubles Championships and two NCAA Singles Championships

Julie Kaczmarek - William and Mary - 1985-89 - Lansing, Ill.
• Three-time NCAA Doubles Championship participant (1987-89) and NCAA Singles Championship participant in 1988
• Selected as the CAA Player of the Year in 1989
• Won the top flight in singles (1989) and doubles (1988, 1989) at the CAA Championship

Megan Moulton-Levy - William and Mary - 2004-08 - Monroe, Mich.
• Six-time All-American who reached the semifinals of the 2006 NCAA Singles Championship and the finals of the 2007 NCAA Doubles Championship
• Four-time CAA Player of the Year and three-time CAA Tournament MVP
• Twice received the National ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship

Megan Muth - William and Mary - 2002-06 - Covington, La.
• Honored as the CAA Player of the Year and CAA Tournament MVP in 2004 v• Earned All-America honors after reaching the quarterfinals of the 2004 NCAA Doubles Championship and also played in the 2004 NCAA Singles Championship
• Selected to the All-CAA team in singles and doubles during all four seasons

Martina Nedelkova - VCU - 1997-2002 - Piestany, Slovakia
• Three-time NCAA qualifier in singles and doubles and two-time ITA All-American
• Earned first-team All-CAA honors in singles and doubles during all four seasons
• VCU's all-time leader in singles wins (134-35)

Lauren Nikolaus - William and Mary - 1994-98 - Silver Spring, Pa.
• Six-time All-American who was the ITA National Senior Player of the Year in 1998
• Three-time CAA Player of the Year (1996-98) and two-time CAA Tournament MVP
• Competed in four NCAA Singles Championships and three NCAA Doubles Championships, and reached the doubles semifinals in 1998.

Michelle O - William and Mary - 1994-98 - Winter Park, Fla.
• Earned All-America honors in 1998 after reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship
• Captured the 1997 ITA Summer Collegiate Circuit Tournament in singles and doubles
• Competed in three NCAA Singles Championships and two NCAA Doubles Championships

Tzipi Obziler - Old Dominion - 1995-96 - Tel Aviv, Israel
• Won the ITA National Clay Court Championship in 1995
• Ranked #1 in the nation in singles in Dec. 1995 and finished the season with a 28-3 record
• Reached the finals of the ITA All-American Tournament

Andrea Ondrisova - VCU - 1997-2002 - Bratislava, Slovakia
• 2002 CAA Player of the Year who was a three-time All-CAA selection in singles and doubles
• Two-time NCAA qualifier in singles and doubles who earned ITA All-America honors in singles in 2000 and 2002
• Ranks second in career singles wins at VCU with a 109-24 record

Ana Radeljevic - Old Dominion - 1998-2002 - Zagreb, Croatia
• Two-time All-CAA selection who was an NCAA qualifier in singles and doubles
• Captured the ITA East Region Doubles Championship in 2001-02
• Posted a career singles record of 71-16 and a career doubles mark of 63-17

Julie Shiflet - William and Mary - 1991-92 - Virginia Beach, Va.
• Selected as the CAA Player of the Year in 1992
• Earned All-America honors after advancing to the quarterfinals of the 1992 NCAA Singles Championship
• Won the top singles flight and the second doubles flight at the 1992 CAA Championship

Johanna Sones - William and Mary - 1993-97 - Manchester, Mass.
• Two-time NCAA Doubles Championship participant who earned All-America honors in doubles in 1997
• Selected as the ITA East Region Senior of the Year in 1997
• Recorded more than 100 career wins in singles (117) and doubles (107)

Delphine Troch - William and Mary - 1998-2002 - Waterloo, Belgium
• Four-time All-CAA selection in singles and three-time honoree in doubles
• Reached the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship in 1999 and 2000
• Competed in the 2000 NCAA Doubles Championship

Tari Ann Toro - William and Mary - 1995-99 - Miami, Fla.
• Honored as the CAA Player of the Year in 1999
• Competed in the 1999 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships
• Ranks third in career singles wins at W&M with a 126-60 record

Silvia Urickova - VCU - 2000-04 - Trnava, Slovakia
• Reached the semifinals of the 2003 NCAA Doubles Championship to earn All-America honors
• Selected to the All-CAA first team in singles and doubles three times
• Recorded a career singles record of 70-26 and a career doubles mark of 78-12

Tatsiana Uvarova - VCU - 2005-08 - Minsk, Belarus
• Reached the quarterfinals of the 2006 NCAA Singles Championship, earning All-America honors
• Qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship during all three seasons with the Rams
• Three-time first-team All-CAA selection who had a career singles record of 63-13

Karen van der Merwe - William and Mary - 1990-93 - Eversdal, South Africa
• CAA Player of the Year and ITA East Region Senior of the Year in 1993
• Three-time All-American who has the best career singles winning pct. (78.8%) at W&M
• Twice competed in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, reaching the singles third round in 1992 and the doubles quarterfinals in 1993

Marianna Yuferova - VCU - 2004-07 - St. Petersburg, Russia
• Reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in 2005 to earn All-America honors
• Selected as the CAA Player of the Year in 2006 and CAA Rookie of the Year in 2005
• Three-time NCAA Doubles Championship qualifier who had a 68-16 career doubles record

Barbora Zahnova - VCU - 2001-03 - Trnava, Slovakia
• Advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship in 2003 to earn All-America honors
• Earned first-team All-CAA honors in doubles in 2002 and 2003 and singles in 2003
• Posted a 44-5 record in singles and 41-6 mark in doubles during her two-year career

Katarina Zoricic - William and Mary - 2005-09 - Etobicoke, Ontario
• Runner-up at the 2007 NCAA Doubles Championship and won the 2006 ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship
• Two-time All-American who competed in three NCAA Doubles Championships
• Selected to the All-CAA first team in singles and doubles during all four years
