Nadine Fahoum Wins Title at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Junior Lady Monarch tennis player Nadine Fahoum won the A Singles title at the Wake Forest Invitational today, defeating Illinois' Rachael White in straight sets to bring home the win.
ODU's 116th ranked Fahoum went 4-0 at the tournament, never having to see a third set. After advancing to the semifinals on Friday, Fahoum won a 6-1, 6-1 match on Saturday against Wake Forest's Martina Pavalec, who had upset the 19th ranked female singles player in the nation the day before. This morning, she faced White in the finals and won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
In B singles, ODU's Irina Dementyeva made it to the championship match, facing Wake Forest's Kathryn Talbert, but dropped the match 6-4, 6-0. She defeated Richmond's Helen Cunningham in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-3.
Also in B singles, Diana Ivanova won one of her two matches on Sunday against Davidson's Samantha Galainena, 6-1, 6-2. Juliana Pires defeated Davidson's Ali Gores after dropping the first set, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5.
Finally, for ODU, Marija Citic took third place in C Singles by defeating Richmond's Mariana Arana, 6-2, 4-6, 10-3.
