Christiansen Named Assistant Tennis Coach

NORFOLK, Va. -- Eric Christiansen has been named as the Old Dominion University assistant tennis coach it was announced on Monday by head coach Darryl Cummings.

"Eric has proven himself as a very organized tennis coach who has a quality vision for player development," said Cummings. "Additionally he has continued to improve his own game to become one of the top players in the state of Virginia. He will be an asset to our tennis program."

Christiansen previously operated his own tennis academy in nearby Newport News, Virginia, working with top ranked juniors. He also served as an assistant tennis coach at Christopher Newport for the last two seasons along with being one of the top ranked open tennis players in the state of Virginia.

Collegiately, Christiansen played at the University of South Florida where he captained the Ospreys to a No. 15 ranking in the nation in Division II. He was regionally ranked in singles and was a Top 20 doubles player. In addition, he was an All-Conference student-athlete.

Christiansen currently resides in Newport News with his wife Jennifer.
