Women's Tennis Team Earns All-Academic Honors

NORFOLK, VA.-- Mily Kannarkat (Va. Beach, Va.) was named third team Verizon/COSIDA Academic All-American and first team Academic All-American by the (ITA) Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Joining Kannarkat on the ITA All Academic squad are Patricia Araujo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia), and Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany). The Lady Monarchs as a team carry a 3.79 grade point average and were honored by the ITA as an Academic All-American team.

Kaannarkat carries a 3.97 grade point average in biology/pre-med and compiled a 20-2 singles record. She also earned All-CAA tennis honors. Araujo was 10-7 this year and carried a 3.80 grade point average.

Radeljevic was 20-2 in singles and teammed with Nataly Cahana to be ranked 97th nationally, and compete in the NCAA Nationals. Radeljevic carries a 3.58 grade point average in finance. Sotiriu was 13-6 this year and carried a 3.95 grade point average.

As a team the Lady Monarchs were 21-2, captured their first CAA Championship and reached their first NCAA Tournament.
