FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. -- Former Lady Monarch women's tennis player, Tzipi Obziler pushed defending U.S. Open Champion Justine Henin-Hardenne to three sets on Thursday afternoon in the second round of action at the 2004 U.S. Open, dropping her match 3-6, 7-5, 2-6. Obziler, who also reached the second round of the 2004 Australian Open, advanced to the second round of the U.S. Open on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Angelique Widjaja of Indonesia. While at Old Dominion, Obziler won the ITA National Clay Court in 1995 and became the #1 player in the country before pursuing a professional tennis career Current ODU tennis director, Darryl Cummings, served as Obziler's coach at the U.S. Open.
