Women's Tennis Falls To N.C. State, 5-2

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 1, 2005) -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team fell to #73 N.C. State on Friday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex, 2-5, but managed points in doubles, including the CAA Doubles Team of the Week, and a No. 3 singles win from sophomore Fernanda Luiz (Nova Lima, Brazil).

Old Dominion captured the doubles point even with having to default at the No. 3 spot. The CAA Doubles Team of the Week, senior Kerstin Endlich (Neustadt, Germany) and Luiz, played to an 8-5 win over Barbara Orlay and Julia Roach at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Barbara Costa (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and sophomore Barbara Kerner (Herxheim, Germany) edged out the Wolfpack's Danielle Stadelmann and Agustina Arechavaleta, 9-7, at No. 2 doubles.

Luiz earned the Lady Monarchs lone singles point from a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Arechavaleta at the No. 3 position.

The Lady Monarchs (10-10) return to action on Saturday when they met Furman in a neutral court match at N.C. State.
