Women's Tennis Concludes VCU 4-1 Invite With 3-2 Win Over Longwood

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Old Dominion University women's tennis team concluded play at the VCU 4-1 invitational with a 3-2 victory over Longwood. The day's other match against Georgetown was cancelled. The Lady Monarchs, who went 2-1 during tournament action, improved their overall record to 6-2 on the year.
The Lady Monarchs earned wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles and captured the lone doubles match. Barbara Kerner (Herxheim, Germany) downed Brittany Huddleston, 7-5, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot, while Linda Garder (Tallin, Estonia) picked up a 5-7, 6-0. 7-6 (4) victory over Lexi Torrice. Kerstin Endlich (Neustadt, Germany) and Fernanda Luiz (Nova Lima, Brazil) grabbed the doubles point with straight sets over Alicia Raymond and Jessica Farr, 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Monarchs return to action on Saturday at Maryland.
