For the first time in the program's history, the Old Dominion women's tennis team will host an NCAA regional event May 12-13, 2001 as announced Thursday by the NCAA.

The Lady Monarchs will host 10th-seeded Southern California, UMBC, and South Alabama in NCAA collegiate tennis action at the Old Dominion Tennis Complex.

The match-ups will feature Old Dominion vs. South Alabama (10 am) and Southern California vs. Maryland-Baltimore County (2 pm) on Saturday, May 12. The winners will meet at 12 noon on Sunday, May 13.

The Lady Monarchs, ranked #37 in the latest ITA WingspanBank.com tennis rankings, are currently 21-1. The team earned an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament by winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship two weeks ago and is led by fifth-ranked freshman Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) and #97 junior Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia).

In addition to the Lady Monarch team entry, Old Dominion will be represented in the 64-player singles field by both Cahana and Radeljevic. The doubles tandem will also participate in the 32-team doubles draw. The national championships will be hosted by Georgia State and held in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
