Brad Gero is entering his first season with the Monarch coaching staff as an Undergraduate Assistant Coach. Gero concluded his playing days for ODU last season, setting the school record for appearances (39) while also notching 12 saves. In his two years at ODU, Gero pitched 92.1 innings and had a 2.93 ERA. He assists Coach Lavigne with the pitchers on a daily basis, and assists Coach Bottigliero with camps.
Gero arrived at ODU after completing two years at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, FL, where he went 7-0 and accumulated 27 appearances his sophomore year. Gero’s Dad, Craig, was a long time head coach at Palm Beach State College, and now coaches high school and summer baseball in south Florida. Gero will graduate from ODU in May with a degree in Sports Management and will look to continue his coaching career.
CAREER:Brad Gero played at Park Vista community high school where he was a First Ream FACA District 17 All-County selection as junior and senior. As a senior he was named FACA High School Player of the Year in Palm Beach County. During his senior season, Gero only issued nine walks the entire season and was selected to play in the FACA High School All-Star game after compiling a 10-1 record with a 0.68 ERA. In 2012, Gero made 27 appearances with a 7-0 record and a 3.39 ERA in 61.1 innings of work for Daytona State Community College where he was selected first team All-Mid Florida Conference. Daytona State finished third in the Mid Florida Conference in 2011 and 2012.
