Monarchs Host Northeastern In CAA Weekend Series

NORFOLK, VA-- The Old Dominion University Monarchs (31-5/14-1) ranked 15th by BASEBALL AMERICA and 17th by COLLEGIATE BASEBALL plays host to the Huskies of Northeastern (14-12/8-4) in a three-game CAA series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Huskies rank third in the CAA in team ERA at 3.63 led by junior righthander and CAA Pitcher of The Week Adam Ottavino. He tossed a no-hitter last weekend against James Madison. Red-shirt freshman Trevor Smith is 4-1 with a 1.53 ERA.

ODU leads the CAA in pitching with a 3.24 ERA(17th nationally). Freshman Dan Hudson, this week's CAA Rookie of the Week is at 1.49, followed by reliever Dana Arrowood at 2.08 and six saves. Jason Godin is 7-0 with a 3.34 ERA.

Jimmy Miles still leads the league in steals with 32, John Maynor of UNCW is second with 28. Miles is hitting .386 and has already scored 43 times. Dana Arrowood is second in hitting at .385, while Justin Gregula is at .338, and Bryan Cipolla is at .324. ODU ranks 14th nationally in slugging percentage at.497.

Mike Zahm leads the team with 36 RBI, followed by Cipolla with 34 and Arrowood with 33.
