Jake McAloose To Play For The Cubs Arizona Rookie League Team

NORFOLK, VA-- Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, Va.) has signed with the Chicago Cubs and is playing for the Cubs farm team in the Arizona Rookie League.
McAloose hit .328 with a team best nine homers and 34 RBI. He also had 16 doubles and scored 51 runs.
McAloose finished his career at ODU with a .331 batting average with 20 homers, 140 RBI and 50 doubles. He is tied with Tim Hummel ('00) for seventh on ODU's all-time base hits list with 254. He is fifth all-time at ODU with 50 career doubles and tied with Jason Riley for second all-time at ODU with 36 hit by pitched balls. He is also eighth all-time at ODU in games played with 205.
The two-time ODU team MVP was the ricipient of the Ralph Guzzo-Chesapeake Athletic Club top senior award.
In 2009, McAloose hit .413 and set a new ODU field record for thirdbasemen at .965 with only six errors. He was named first team All-CAA, All-State and All-region.
McAloose graduated in May with a double major in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
Teams in the Arizona Rookie League include the Angels, Athletics, Brewers, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Indians, Mariners, Padres, Rangers, Reds and Royals. The team began play on June 22nd.
