11th-Ranked Clemson Defeats Monarchs, 10-2

CLEMSON,S.C. - (Feb. 20) First baseman Michael Johnson homered twice and drove in five runs to lead 11th ranked Clemson to a 10-2 victory over the Monarchs Sunday afternoon. Clemson is now 5-1, the Monarchs drop to 2-5-1.

Johnson got the Tigers on the board in the first inning with a grand slam to right field. It was the first homerun allowed by Monarch pitching this year. Johnson then hit a solo shot in the seventh inning. Ryan Mottl pitched five scoreless innings and picked up the win.

The Monarchs, who had just two hits, scored two runs in the sixth on a passed ball and run scoring single by Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.).

Old Dominion is off until Friday when they host Rutgers in a three-game series beginning at 3 p.m.
