RICHMOND, VA-- ODU senior righthander Ben Tomchick (Virginia Beach, VA.-Princess Anne HS) has been named CAA Pitcher of the Week.

Tomchick fired a complete-game, five-hit shutout in Old Dominion's 7-0 victory at Towson last Saturday. The senior right-hander struck out five, didn't issue a walk and only once allowed more than one baserunner in an inning. Towson got two runners on base in the first inning, but Tomchick induced the Tigers into a double-play to get out of the jam. He retired the final eight batters he faced and improved his record to 2-3 with a 4.67 ERA on the season. He ranks third in the CAA with 45 strikeouts in 44.1 innings of work (9.14 so/9).

The Monarchs travel to nationally ranked East Carolina Wednesday night at 6 p.m.. That contest will be broadcast live on Star1310 WGH AM radio with Ted Alexander providing the Play-by-play along with Doug Ripley.
