NEWARK,DE-- Brock Donovan's RBI groundout plated Dan Kozek to break a three-all tie as the University of Delaware Blue Hens (15-14/1-5) defeated ODU (13-21/3-7), 5-3 in a CAA contest Friday afternoon.

Delaware scored two runs in the first on a homerun by Dave Harden off Justin Verlander to take a 2-0 lead. The Fightin' Blue Hens added a third run in the fourth as Todd Davison singles home Kelly Buber.

ODU comes back with two runs in the sixth on a Bryran Cipolla two-run singled which scored Allen Strick and Brandon Carter. Eric Mesa then singled home Derek James to tie the game at three.

In the botton of the sixth, Kozek reached second on an ODU infield throwing error, He was sacrificed to third then scored on Donovan's groundout. UD's final run came in the eighth as Todd Davison scored from third on a Dana Arrowood wild pitch.

ODU put runners on first and second in the ninth off reliver Joe Coudon as Tyler Belcher and Keith Hahn each had two out singles, but Coudon pitched out of the jam.

The two teams play again on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
