Monarchs Host UNC Wilmington

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs (16-11/4-2) host defending CAA Champion UNC Wilmington (12-12/4-2) in a three-game series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Seahawks are scheduled to throw Bradley Holt (Friday), Jeff Hatcher (Saturday) and Daniel Cropper (Sunday). ODU will counter with Dan Hudson (Friday), Anthony Shawler (Saturday) and Ryan Bergh (Sunday).

Steve Halford leads the Seahawks with a .356 batting average, while Jonathan Batts leads the team with five homers and 24 runs batted in. Jeff Hatcher is 3-1 (3.77 ERA), Daniel Cropper iss 3-1 with a 4.06 ERA.

ODU is led by Mike Zahm with a .419 batting average which ranks him fourth in the CAA. David Burns is fourth in the CAA with six homeruns.

Anthony Shawler, the CAA Player of the Week is 5-0 with a 2.91 ERA which ranks him third in the league. Dan Hudson is 3-2 and ranks fifth in the CAA with a 3.27 ERA.

ODU is second in the CAA with a .328 batting average, while UNCW is hitting .282. ODU is second in team ERA at 4.14, while UNCW is third at 4.98. The Seahawks defeated ODU three of four games last year, including two extra inning games. ODU last won a series from UNCW in 2003.

Saturday's game is at 5 p.m. and Sunday's game is at 2 p.m.
