Oehler Paces Monarchs Over Brown, 10-3

NORFOLK, VA. - Senior catcher John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.) knocked in four runs on two hits to lead ODU's 15-hit attack in a 10-3 victory over Brown University Sunday afternoon. ODU is now 9-13 and won four of its last five games. Freshman righthander, Jason Godin (Stafford, VA.) picked up his first collegiate win of the year.
Oehler doubled home Derek James(Terre Haute, IN.) and Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, PA.)in the third innings, knocked in Sollenberger with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and plated Sollenberger again with a groundout in the sixth. James and Evan Chipman (Raleigh, NC.) each knocked in two runs as well for ODU.
Freshman Jason Godin pitched six-plus innings to earn his first collegiate victory. Donnie Smith (Portsmouth, VA.) and James Burok (Arrchbald, PA.) finished up the final innings. The Monarch mound corp limited Brown to just five hits.
The Bears scored two in the fifth on sacrifice flies by Cameron Johnson and Bobby Wiginton. The final run came in the seventh as Chris Jernigan walked to force home Jeff Nichols. ODU travels to Liberty on Tuesday, then hosts George Mason in the season's first CAA series beginning on Friday at 7 p.m.
