Evansville Defeats Baseball Monarchs, 5-0

    WILMINGTON, NC -- Evansville southpaw Vince Serafini held the Monarchs of Old Dominion to three hits over eight innings as Evansville defeated ODU, 5-0 in the sixth game of the Hughes Brothers/UNCW Baseball Challange. ODU is now 0-8, Evansville is 4-1.

    Serafini struck out ten through eight innings of work. Wes Carroll went 3-4 , while Andy Rohleder, Matt Serafini and Blake Whealy each had two hits for Evansville. Serafini knocked in two of the five runs for the Purple Aces.

    Monarch senior lefty Parker Friske (Va. Beach, Va.) allowed five runs and nine hits. David Vilardi (Fishkill, NY.), Ryan Dunn(Bristol, Va.), and Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.) each had one hit for Old Dominion.

    Old Dominion faces Appalachian State at 1:30 on Sunday.
