C.J. Huyett Named National And CAA Pitcher Of the Week

NORFOLK, VA-- ODU junior righthander C.J. Huyett (Lawrenceville, PA.) has been named CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week and Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger along with National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Player of the Week after throwing a no-hitter last week against UMES.

Huyett fired the 13th no-hitter in ODU history, and only the school's second nine inning no-hitter.

ODU defeated Maryland Eastern Shore, 18-0 as Huyett walked just one and struck out 11, facing just one over the minimum.

The Monarchs return to action Tuesday afternoon when they travel to the University of Richmond for a 3 p.m. contest.

Also honored by Collegiate Baseball was Jordan Cooper of Witchita State (RHP), Matt Bischoff of Purdue (RHP), along with Jeremy Baltz of St. John's (OF), Anthony Rendon of Rice (3b), Ben THomas of Xavier (1b), and B.A. Vollmuth of Southern Mississippi (SS).

He shares the CAA honor with Tyler McSwain of UNC Wilmington who threw a complete- game two-hit shutout over William and Mary.
