Monarchs Host Georgia State In Final Home Series Beginning Friday Night

NORFOLK, VA-- The Baseball Monarchs (29-19/15-8) play host to Georgia State (23-26/12-12) in a CAA three-game series. It will be the final home series for seniors Mike Zahm, Hunter Hall, Nick Erdman and Tyler Belcher who will be honored prior to Sunday's game.

Friday's game begins at 7:00, with Saturday's starting at 5 and Sunday's at 2 p.m.

ODU is currently tied for first with VCU, while Delaware is one game back. VCU and Delaware play eachother this weekend at the Diamond in Richmond.

ODU senior Mike Zahm is seventh in the CAA in hitting at .396, while Anthony Shawler is tied with Adam Bowling of Georgia State for the best ERA in the CAA at 2.52. Bowling is 6-1 overall, while Shawler leads the CAA at 9-1. Dan Hudson is fifth in the league at 3.36.

Chris Keenan ranks third in the CAA in runs scored with 54 for a 1.13 per game average and Mike Zahm is fifth with 52 runs scored for a 1.08 average. David Burns is now second in the CAA with 57 RBI, and Zahm is fourth with 53.

ODU and Georgia State have met only four times. ODU leads the series, 3-1. Last year, ODU swept the series in Atlanta, but the Panthers eliminated ODU from the CAA tournament.

ODU is again scheduled to go with Dan Hudson on friday, Anthony Shawler on Saturday and Ryan Bergh on Sunday.
